Jim Duquette On The MLB All-Star Break & Home Run Derby

Jim Duquette, former GM of the Orioles, now a host on Sirius XM MLB Channel.

Jim joined Ed and Ken to talk about Orioles and other MLB topics.

Ed and Ken begin the interview with Jim by discussing All Star Weekend, and specifically the home-run Derby. Jim said "We finally have an event that we can look forward too... keep it the way it is." Jim likes the idea of having the host team represented in the event, "having a power hitter from the home team being involved gives the fans something to look forward to."

Jim talked about Manny Machado's performance in both the home-run derby and All Star Game. When speaking about the All Star Game he said "In a game of stars, he stood out among them."

Jim talks about the possibility of Cincinnati trading closer Aroldis Chapman before the trade deadline, "For whatever reason he can't pitch 3 nights in a row which might impact a team or two that wants to acquire him." Jim doesn't think that the Padres will bounce back in the second half after a rough first part of the season, they could end up being sellers and Orioles might want to think about acquiring Padres relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit before the trade deadline to add depth to their bullpen.
