Police Credit Witnesses, Neighbors In Locating Suspect Who Shot 3 Teens

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Three teens are recovering 24 hours after they're shot on a city street.

Tonight, police make an arrest as the community says enough is enough!

Christie Ileto explains it's just the latest in an alarming series of teens hit by violence.

The man police say pulled the trigger in Baltimore's latest shooting is 25-year-old Keon White.

His targets: a 13, 15 and 16 year old.

"I don't think there's a dispute that would ever justify shooting 3 teenagers, this guy is a 25-year-old man, it's disgusting," said police.

Police say the neighborhood dispute started between two females, followed by a flurry of gunfire.

So far this year, city officials say there have been 30 non-fatal youth shootings and 14 youths killed, but not all by gun violence.

A statistic about to eclipse last year's 15 total and one that's already passed years before.

Family members of both the 15 and 16-year-old declined to speak on camera, but say both have been released from the hospital and say they're home recuperating.

Niesha Russell says crime has picked up on her east Baltimore block where cops, city leaders and residents walk the streets aiming to curb the ongoing violence.

Ileto: "When you hear about all this crime, what are you asking as a mother?"

"What can be done to fix this? Why are people so angry? I don't want my children to grow up and fear for their safety when they leave their home," said Antonia Rota.

Still some say ending the bloodshed starts at home.

A growing concern around the surging crime that's leaving kids as collateral damage.

Police credit witnesses, and neighbors for helping police find the suspect so quickly.

No word yet on the charges White is facing.

So far this year, almost 350 people have been shot in the city.
