Man Accused Of Killing Uncle In Wicomico County Watermelon Field

MARDELA, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland State Police are investigating a homicide on a Wicomico County farm.

Troopers found the body of 62-year-old Lee Harcum lying in a watermelon field in the 10000 block of Snethen Church Road. Authorities say there were obvious signs of trauma to his head.

The preliminary investigation indicates an argument broke out between Harcum and his nephew while they were picking watermelons in the field.

Investigators believe 31-year-old William Harcum III used a blunt object to strike his uncle in the head.

He is charged with first and second-degree murder and assault.
