The Best Of The Norris & Davis Show – Week Of August 21, 2015

This week's Best Of include interviews with fantasy football expert Dave Richard and two Baltimore natives -- US Paralympic swimmer Jessica Long and Mount Saint Joseph product and Baltimore Orioles catcher Steve Clevenger.

Take a listen:

Dave Richard

Dave Richard is a fantasy football expert for the CBS Sports Network.

Dave joined Ed and Steve to preview the upcoming fantasy football season and gave out some sleepers and can't miss players for your drafts.

Dave started off talking about how hard it is to judge guys during the pre-season because you don't know if they're actually good or just beating guys who shouldn't be in the league. "Coaches can't hide everything, so what we can gleam from these games is pretty useful for helping everybody with their fantasy drafts."

As for who he would take with 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick in a fantasy draft Dave said "Le'Veon Bell, Eddie Lacy, and Jamaal Charles...and Adrian Peterson is a very close 4th to them." Dave also talked about a possible running back sleeper saying "I'm always trying to look for those late round guys...Alfred Blue in Houston is a guy who you can get in the 7th or 8th rounds and you can start your season with him."

Dave also talked about guys who are getting over drafted, and some Ravens players who you should keep your eye on when you draft your team before the season.

Jessica Long

Jessica Long is a highly decorated US Paralympic swimmer from Baltimore, MD who is also a world record holder.

Jessica joined Ed and Steve to talk about this month marking the one year countdown to the Rio Olympics.

Steve asked Jessica about her relationship with fellow swimming great Michael Phelps and whether or not there is a friendly competition between the two as their respective medal counts continue to grow. Jessica acknowledged that there is a friendly competition between them though, "he's got 18 gold medals and I only have 12 so I have some catching up to do, but to me he's always willing to help with my strokes, as are all of my teammates, he's just an outstanding guy."

Ed asked Jessica about what she thinks we can do to increase exposure of the Paralympic Games. Jessica said, "I think Rio is going to be a phenomenal event in 2016. I think we just have to get people more aware by continuing to spread the word."

Jessica continued by talking about her journey as a Paralympic athlete, how she first got into competitive swimming, and meeting with her biological family in Russia for the first time since her adoption. She finished by discussing the message she would like people to receive when hearing the Jessica Long story which is that she has "always had the power in the way people view my disability."

Steve Clevenger

Yes, Steve Clevenger is a catcher for the Baltimore Orioles, but he was also born right here in Baltimore, MD.

Here we will find out what it has meant to him to have success in his home town, and what is it like waiting for a pitch from great pitchers like Sonny Gray.

Clevenger joined Ed and Steve to talk about the Orioles trying to secure a playoff birth down the stretch of this season. First, we hear from Buck Showalter about how "proud" he was of Clevenger and what he believes he can do for the team.

Steve Clevenger started off by discussing the process of how he actually finds out details of the lineup, "well you usually find out about 3pm or 3:30pm and the first person I usually text is my wife, but she usually texts me because she follows on twitter and texts me so that's how I usually find out."

Ed made sure to ask Steve if he has had a talk with Kevin Gausman about wearing a Saints jersey to a Ravens game saying, "Yeah, actually I think Buck brought it up to him the other day asking him why he'd wear a Saints jersey to a Ravens game...the guys have been on him, Adam's been on him... about needing to wear a Ravens jersey to a Ravens game."
