Mike Bordick Talks Orioles Clubhouse Chemistry

Mike Bordick joined the Scott Garceau show with Jeremy Conn this afternoon to share some secrets from inside the Orioles dugout.

The Orioles bullpen has looked strong throughout the year, and Mike Bordick says we have Buck to thank for that, "Buck Showalter has been a master of managing that pen, and keeping guys fresh, he has his key guys, O'Day and Britton are always there at the back end, but he will not blow a guy out. If you look at the leader boards for relievers, I think Bud takes a lot of pride in the fact that none of his pitches are in the top ten for leading in appearances. But, he finds a way to keep them fresh, and understands he'll have enough bullets for the next day."

Gerardo Parra is the Orioles newest acquisition but Mike Bordick thinks he'll adjust properly, "I think he's great. I think when Buck and Dan target players now, they're really concerned about their character and their make-up. I don't think they'd go after a player that will disrupt the club house and the club house chemistry because they've got a good thing going with a great group of veteran guys. They police themselves, generally, Buck doesn't have to do a lot of screaming and yelling, Adam Jones will stay on top of the team and do the policing there. So when they go out and they pull players in, even from the minor leagues, they have to make sure they won't disrupt what their ultimate goal is, and that's to win a championship."
