Parents Charged With Murder Following Death Of 10-Week-Old Daughter

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—Two people have been charged with murder after their 10-week-old daughter died in Montogomery County in June.

According to police, on June 23rd around 7:18 p.m., police responded to a 911 call for a reported unresponsive child.

At the scene, police say they found 10-week-old Aleah Thompson not breathing, and was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

An investigation has revealed that 24-year-old Robert Davidson was playing video games in the living room when he heard sounds of labored breathing coming from the bedroom. Aleah was found unresponsive and limp, Davidson told police.

During additional interviews, Davidson admitted to sexually abusing the child, dropping her several times and even admitted that she rolled off the couch in one instance. Davidson also admitted to aggressively shaking Aleah on one occasion. Police say Aleah was never treated for any of the incidents in which Davidson admitted to.

Police say they also interviewed Aleah's mother, 22-year-old Lorena Thompson and primary caregiver, who wasn't home during the June 23rd incident. Thompson told police that she had seen injuries on Aleah, including bruising, and understood that those injuries happened under the care of Davidson. Police say at no time did Thompson seek medical attention for her daughter.

Robert Davidson has been charged with second degree murder, first degree child abuse resulting in death, first degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, neglect of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor, and second degree sex offense.

Lorena Thompson has been charged with first degree child abuse resulting in death, first degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, and neglect of a minor, for failing to protect her daughter from chronic physical and sexual abuse inflicted by Davidson.

Police say Thompson also has a 5-year-old son who is now in the custody of his father.
