Police Charge Man They Say Impersonated Officer & Raped A Woman

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore police have arrested and charged a man they say impersonated a police officer and then raped a woman.

According to police, Edwin Gerard Johnson had sex in exchange for money with a 22-year-old woman. When she asked for the money, he told her he was a US marshal and would arrest her for prostitution and solicitation if she didn't have sex with him.

She asked to see credentials and he refused, but withdrew a handgun and forced her to have sex with him.

He has been charged with rape, sex offense, assault, impersonating a police officer and firearms violations.
