Davis Hits 2 HRs, Orioles Beat Jays 10-2
TORONTO (AP) -- Chris Davis hit two home runs to take the major league lead with 40, Matt Wieters and Adam Jones both connected and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-2 on Friday night.
Ubaldo Jimenez (10-9) pitched 5 2-3 innings for the victory as the Orioles won consecutive games for the first time since beating Oakland on Aug. 16-17.
Toronto's lead atop the AL East shrank to one-half game as the second-place New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay 5-2.
Davis opened the scoring by leading off the second inning with a second-deck drive to right, then broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run shot in the sixth. Both homers came off Blue Jays right-hander Drew Hutchison.
The home runs were the 39th and 40th of the season for Davis, moving him past Seattle's Nelson Cruz. Davis, who hit 53 homers in 2013, is the first player in Orioles history to hit 40 or more in multiple seasons.
It was the sixth multihomer game this season for Davis and the 13th of his career. He hit two home runs against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, including a game-winning blast in the 11th inning.
Wieters followed Davis' second homer with a drive of his own. It was the fourth time this season Baltimore has hit back-to-back homers. Davis has been involved all four times.
Blue Jays left fielder Ben Revere leaped to try and catch Wieters' drive but instead pushed the ball over the wall.
Including the two homers, Baltimore recorded six straight hits to start the sixth, which began with a single by Jones.
After Davis and Wieters homered, Jonathan Schoop doubled, Jimmy Paredes chased Hutchison with a single and Steve Pearce hit an infield single off Liam Hendriks. One out later, Manny Machado hit a sacrifice fly.
Hutchison (13-3) allowed six runs and nine hits in five-plus innings, losing at home for just the second time in 15 starts this season. The right-hander, 4-0 in his previous four home outings, hadn't lost at Rogers Centre since May 20 against the Los Angeles Angels.
Josh Donaldson hit a sacrifice fly for Toronto, boosting his ML-leading RBI total to 112.
Orioles outfielder Gerardo Parra hit a two-run double off Bo Schultz in the eighth. Jones, who had been hit by a pitch from Ryan Tepera in his previous at-bat, followed with a two-run homer to center, his 25th.

Orioles: Manager Buck Showalter said SS J.J. Hardy (left groin) should rejoin the team before Tuesday's game against the Yankees in New York.
Blue Jays: RHP Marcus Stroman (left knee) returned to Toronto to throw a bullpen session. Stroman, who pitched 4 2-3 hitless innings at Class-A Lansing on Wednesday, will start at Triple-A Buffalo on Monday. Manager John Gibbons said Toronto could use Stroman in a six-man rotation down the stretch.

Orioles: RHP Mike Wright (2-3, 4.99 ERA) was activated off the 15-day DL on Friday to start Saturday in place of RHP Miguel Gonzalez, who was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday with shoulder tendinitis. Showalter said Wright will be limited to around 60 pitches. It will be Wright's first start since June 19, when he allowed four runs and walked four in 1 1-3 innings in a 5-4 loss at Toronto.
Blue Jays: LHP David Price (13-5, 2.47 ERA) looks to rebound from his first loss in six starts with Toronto and his first defeat in 12 career starts at Rogers Centre, where he's 8-1. Price allowed three runs and six hits over seven innings against Cleveland on Monday.
