Week 1 Fantasy Tips With Phil Gentile

Phil Gentile with Purple Reign Fantasy joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to share some fantasy tips.

With the NFL season kicking off tonight with the Steelers vs. Patriots, Scott & Jeremy asked Phil about the fantasy implications in tonights game. "I think Amendola is an option for some great PPR action with Brandon LaFell out. I think the Patriots are going to put up some serious points tonight...and the Steelers defense is really suspect. Will Allen is a career backup who is now a starting safety. Their best pass rusher is still James Harrison who I think is 45 years old so I think the Patriots win big tonight despite how much it pains me to say that."

With one day fantasy football leagues growing more and more popular these days the guys asked Phil for his advice if you are playing in a one week league. "I think you have to look at the games that Vegas deems really high scoring. Those are the games that you have the most chances to score touchdowns. You want to focus on those games and try and stack up some guys if you can combine an Aaron Rodgers with a Davante Adams or Randall Cobb. That's your best chance for points in those daily fantasy leagues."

The Ravens kick off their season against the Broncos this Sunday. With Breshad Perriman out until further notice, Phil predicts a big year for Steve Smith Sr. "Who else is Joe going to throw to right now? You have some question marks at tight end. I think Kamar Aiken is a decent play later in the season if he can get some work he'd be a good ppr option. But Steve Smith I can see getting 80 catches and 10 touchdowns which is what I can see Brandin Cooks getting from the Saints and he's drafted 7 or 8 rounds ahead of Steve Smith. So I love Steve Smith this week and going forward."
