Anne Arundel Police Announce 'Transaction Safe Places'

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) – In response to the growing safety concerns with using meet-and-trade sites like Craigslist, the Anne Arundel County Police Department has started offering its facilities as "transaction safe places."

They're inviting buyers and sellers to use any of their four district locations, as well as headquarters, as a safe place to meet and conduct transactions. The use of the front parking lot and lobby provides a safe, public place to meet, and it serves as a deterrent for criminals.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department also said that it's also willing to help ensure that a transaction does not involve stolen property. Upon request, a buyer can ask an officer to check an item's serial number in the (NCIC), or National Crime Information Center databases, to see if it matches up with previously stolen property.
