Hogan: $14.9M In Grants For Trail Projects Throughout State

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan has announced $14.9 million in grants by the Maryland Department of Transportation for bicycle, pedestrian and multiuse trails across the state.

In a statement Tuesday, Hogan said that the 63 grants will help better link all transportation options and improve safety in counties and municipalities from western Maryland to the Eastern Shore.

Of the grants, nearly $7 million will go to the Conococheague Creek Aqueduct restoration project at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park in Williamsport. The project marks the final major element to reinstate full canal boat operations in the town.

Tuesday's announcement also included two Baltimore projects. The city will receive $311,000 for a bicycle track and a $60,000 grant will go toward restoring a historic red caboose at the President Street Station.
