Kinky Boots Comes To Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Broadway season arrives at the Hippodrome. Kicking it off is the six time Tony award-winning musical Kinky Boots.
Tracey Leong got a chance to try them out with one of the show's stars---even learning some Broadway moves.
Lights, glitter and Kinky Boots. It's the hit Broadway musical, dazzling audiences across the country.
"These big, sexy boots---big, tall Kinky Boots---bring everyone together," said Juan Torres-Falcon.
Kinky Boots is inspired by true events. The musical is about an unlikely friendship forming between a shoemaker and drag queen, who create a line of sturdy high heel boots.
"Getting to wear these custom-made, spectacular shoes is a once in a lifetime kind of thing," he said.
A once in a lifetime opportunity Tracey couldn't pass up, either---and it's not as easy as it looks.
Besides the high energy moves, it's showcasing the talent of pop icon Cyndi Lauper.
"If anyone likes Cyndi Lauper's music, you can hear her throughout the whole score," he said.
But underneath the glitz and glamor, there's a message woven throughout the story---one of acceptance.
"Be who you want to be and never let them tell you who you ought to be," he said.
If you want to catch the hit Broadway show, it will be playing through the weekend at the Hippodrome Theatre.
