SPCA Of Anne Arundel Promotes Pet Adoption With Music Video

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- A music video with a message.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County gets creative as it promotes pet adoption.

WJZ's Amy Yensi explains.

From pop song to pet song.

'Dear Future Family,' inspired by Meghan Trainor's hit 'Dear Future Husband' is all about bringing awareness to pets in need of adoption.

"I saw a viral video and I though 'Oh, let's do that because it'll help us get the message out.' You know promote shelter pets," said Tom Hamlett, lyricist and producer.

A professional production team joining forces and volunteering for month's to make the songs and video.

"We wanted to put the SPCA and the pets first and have people come in be sure to visit and find a new friend," said Lisa Clark, storyline producer.

From dogs and cats and even a pig -- all types of furry friends have a starring role.

There are plenty of puppies and pets up for adoption here, including this little stud.

How can you say no to this face?

Though the lyrics are fun and catchy, the SPCA says it's important to support no-kill shelters, instead of paying for a pet.

"We are a homeless animal shelter with hundreds of animals needing a home," said SPCA President Kelly Brown. "But this video is just a happy, exciting way to get the same message across."

The volunteers hope that message goes viral.

"There's just a bond between animals and people that is like no other," Felicia Barlow-Clar said.

Whether that bond is with a pet who barks, meows or oinks, the shelter's volunteers hope it's a lasting bond at a forever home.

The shelter has noticed an increase in interest and called since the video was made.
