Conditions Slowly Improve After Ocean City Is Battered By Powerful Storm

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ)—Flooding, high winds, and beach erosion in Ocean City this weekend as they continue to feel the impacts of the large storm that crawled up the East Coast late last week.

WJZ's Rick Ritter has more on the impact.

Wind gusts that seem never ending and a surf that continues to rumble, Mother Nature hasn't left Ocean City just yet.

On Sunday the sand continues to whip as workers use front loaded to fix what they can.

"The biggest problem has been the consistent winds, it's blowing pretty good out there," said Joe Theobald, Ocean City Emergency Services Director.

While members of the Maryland National Guard  watch on, some residents say they've never seen the conditions this bad.

Like most of the weekend, flooding along the back bay remains severe, especially at high tide, it's a problem that's expected to last through Monday.

Roads remain blocked off and cars struggle to get through as conditions show no signs of improving.

Carlos Quintana made the most of his weekend in Ocean City playing in the water, he says the weather won't stop him from doing what he wants to do.

Even though the popular shore town was hit with flooding it's only a glimpse of what could've been as Hurricane Joaquin changes its course.

Emergency officials say come tonight they expect some of the roads to reopen in Ocean City as conditions  are expected to improve.
