SPCA Hosts Annual Online Auction To Help Homeless Pets

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --The Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is hosting its 11th annual online auction to raise money for treating homeless pets.

The proceeds from Shop-a-Paw-Looza, which is one of the MD SPCA's largest fundraisers, helps the SPCA take care of and find homes for more than 3,500 pets a year.

"Last year, through the generosity of people who donated items and people who graciously placed bids, the auction raised close to $40,000," said Tami Gosheff, MD SPCA special events and outreach manager. "With the community's support, we know we can raise more money this year and continue our mission of improving the lives of pets and people in our community."

With hundreds of items expected to bid on, Shop-a-Paw-Looza will offer a variety of auction items with varied price values including pet items, gift certificates to area restaurants, tickets to sporting and theatre events, travel packages, art, jewelry and more.

It will be open from October 2 to October 27.
