AACo. Police Investigating Racist Post Made On School's Website

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)--School officials in Anne Arundel County want to know who's responsible for a racist post on a school website which has now prompted a police investigation.

WJZ's Rick Ritter speaks to parents and has more.

Two days into the school year police say it was a post blasted on a school website that's causing uproar, lyrics so vulgar WJZ can't even show a glimpse.

"To post a message like that on a middle school you wonder what is their goal," said Deb Geary, Severn River Middle School parent.

August 25th, parents notified Severn River Middle School of an inappropriate post on its Blackboard website, a site parents and students access to view class material.

It was there someone posted lyrics to a song heavy with racism and homophobic comments.

Bob Mosier, spokesperson for Anne Arundel County Schools calls the post "absolutely vulgar, absolutely offensive, and totally inappropriate."

The school system immediately shut down the site before turning it over to police.

School officials tell WJZ police have the IP address of those responsible for posting the comment but aren't releasing much more information.

Parents likes Deb Geary have their stomach in knots.

"Deep concern, it's expressing hatred based on race and we know that has fueled some of mass shootings," she said.

Ritter:  "Do you think this post was possibly a threat?"

"I don't personally, but we'll let police decide that," Mosier said.

School officials still don't know who made the post, but say they know the post was not made from a computer at school.

The state's attorney's office is also involved in the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Anne Arundel County Police immediately
