WEATHER BLOG: Cooling Down Saturday

After a potent line of thunderstorms late yesterday afternoon, a cold front has passed through the region, ushering in much cooler and drier air. An area of high pressure will control our weather leading to a wonderful Columbus Day Weekend! High today will get into the middle 60s with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will rebound into the lower to perhaps middle 70s for Sunday and Monday.

By later Monday and into Tuesday, an intense cyclone will wrap up south of Hudson Bay. This will drag a cold front through the Great Lakes Monday night. This front will approach the region Tuesday and pass during the afternoon or evening. Temperatures Tuesday will once again be in the 70s.

Behind the front, temperatures will be more autumn-like, in the middle 60s. The northern branch of the jet stream may get rather active later in the week, with a disturbance moving through the Great Lakes, taking aim on the region toward Friday or Saturday.
