Johns Hopkins Student Believes He Was Drugged, Sexually Assaulted

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A Johns Hopkins student believes he was drugged and sexually assaulted on Friday.

Tracey Leong reports for WJZ.

He suspects he was slipped a date rape drug by someone in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity house near the university, and then sexually assaulted at an undetermined location.

"That's disappointing if it's true," said Paul Lewis, one Johns Hopkins student.

This wouldn't be the first time a Johns Hopkins fraternity has been tangled in a sexual assault investigation.

Two men were charged with raping a 16-year-old girl at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house in November of 2014.

Neither the victim nor attackers were Johns Hopkins students.

And while this is a different fraternity, it still raises concerns for students.

"I feel that Greek life isn't such a positive aspect in society these days," William Bryden, a Johns Hopkins student, said.

During this investigation, the university has ordered Sigma Phi Epsilon to cease from holding parties or events at their fraternity house on campus.

With these allegations, students are being extra cautious and say they aren't taking any chances when they go out.

"Just make sure you are around your friends in case anything were to happen. Have people to support you and get you out of a bad situation," said Lewis.

While Johns Hopkins has not confirmed any details of an assault, they did issue a warning to students as a precautionary measure.

Anyone with information is also asked to call the police.
