Stabbings Prompt Inquiry Into Possible College Tensions
FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- The stabbing last weekend of two college students in western Maryland is prompting Frostburg State University and Allegany College of Maryland to look into possible tension between students at the two schools.
The institutions said Tuesday they're planning at least two meetings with faculty and students to discuss whether conflicts exist and how they can be resolved.
Police are investigating the incident early Sunday morning at an off-campus, Frostburg apartment complex. A 19-year-old male student from each institution was stabbed.
Frostburg police initially said the stabbings stemmed from an altercation between students from the state university and the community college in nearby Cumberland. But Police Chief Royce Douty says he's unaware of any tensions between student groups.
He says a lot of Allegany College students live in Frostburg.
