Hurricane Patricia Makes Landfall In Mexico

MEXICO (WJZ) -- Hurricane Patricia is hitting Mexico's southwestern Pacific Coast right now.

Bob Turk has more on what's being called the most dangerous storm in history.

By 11 p.m. Friday, Hurricane Patricia weakened down to a Category 4. The storm's eye made landfall just after 6:30 p.m.

Hurricane Patricia, capable of potentially catastrophic damage, had estimated winds of 165 miles per hour when it touched land near Cuixmala.

Very serious flooding is expected to occur Sunday into Monday across eastern parts of Texas and southwestern Louisiana. Towns could get more than a foot of rain.

Patricia should merge with a low-pressure system that will track northward -- creating pretty decent rainfall along the eastern seaboard, including here in Maryland.

Our current thinking has the timing of the steadiest rain happening late next Wednesday and Wednesday night before it tapers off on Thursday. We'll keep you posted.
