Physician Gets Probation For Keeping Prescribed Meds

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A Calvert County physician has been sentenced to three years' probation for writing prescriptions in the names of his patients for Oxycodone and Adderall and keeping the drugs for his own use.

Fifty-two-year-old Peter Wisniewski of Huntingtown also surrendered his license to practice medical and was fined $40,000 at sentencing Friday in federal court in Greenbelt.

According to his plea agreement, between 2012 and 2015, Wisniewski wrote the prescriptions for in the names of three elderly patients but kept the drugs for himself.

Prosecutors say Wisniewski picked up the prescriptions himself, telling the pharmacy that he was getting the prescriptions to give them to his patients.

Wisniewski obtained more than 8,000 Oxycodone pills, authorities say.
