Ravens' Top Ten Salaries For 2016
The Baltimore Ravens had salary issues in 2015. They had to trade fan-favorite Haloti Ngata to Detroit and couldn't sign any big name free agents, such as a wide receiver that they so desperately need.
2016 isn't shaping up to be any better. Here's the top 10 salaries on the team next year:
1. Joe Flacco ($28.55M)
The back heavy contract that Flacco signed with the Ravens is finally catching up with them. In 2015, Flacco's salary hit was $14.55M. Double that. Can you smell a restructure?
2. Jimmy Smith ($9.6M)
He's probably the Ravens best corner, not that that is saying much this year.
3. Lardarius Webb ($9.5M)
He's had issues in the past with passing physicals and staying healthy. Could the Ravens cut him? Trade him?
4. Eugene Monroe ($8.7M)
He's signed through 2018. He's a solid left tackle (way better than Michael Oher) but he's had some injury issues.
5. Marshal Yanda ($7.986M)
The Ravens just extended his contract. He's not going anywhere and he's earned every penny.
6. Terrell Suggs ($7.45M)
A second Achilles injury in the last few years. He's since disappeared and nobody on the Ravens has heard from him since the injury. Could he be contemplating retirement?
7. Elvis Dumervil ($7.375M)
The second head in our two-headed edge rush. In 2014, he broke the Ravens single season sack record. He's signed through the 2017 season.
8. Dennis Pitta ($7.2M)
If he doesn't come back this year, he could retire. This one is up in the air. If he does return, fans will be holding their collective breath with every reception.
9. Jeremy Zuttah ($4.607M)
Quality centers are hard to come by. The Ravens previously had Matt Birk and since struggled with AQ Shipley and Gino Gradkowski long enough to know how valuable a guy like Zuttah can be.
10. Will Hill ($4.59M)
He's no Ed Reed but who do they have in 2016, other than Elam who is far but proven, to challenge Hill at this position?
The Ravens have a few Unrestricted Free Agents they would like to/must re-sign as well.
