You have some of the top names in pop, country and R&B coming to Baltimore next year. It's a big deal to fans and local businesses.

The list of artists is impressive--some entertaining fans for decades, and some for just a short time. They are all making Baltimore a stop on their current world tours.

Country music royalty Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood will perform at Royal Farms Arena on January 29.

Exactly one month later, Janet Jackson will bring her Unbreakable World Tour to Charm City, followed by Justin Bieber July 7 and Maroon 5 September 16.

"It's great because all those acts appeal to all kinds of people, different segments of the population," said Mike Evitts, Downtown Partnership. "So they're going to be bringing their fans in from all over the mid-Atlantic."

The steady stream of big names in Baltimore is something the city hadn't seen in years.

"We're halfway between Philly and D.C., so the tours would go to one of those markets and not here," said Evitts.

Well, that has all changed since more top artists--like Billy Joel in July and Jay Z and Beyonce in 2014--drew in thousands of fans.

Those fans tend to make stops at other downtown businesses. Ricky Johnson says Forno is just one of many restaurants taking advantage of what tours bring to the city.

"It brings people who are not typically going to be downtown or on Eutaw Street to the city. It lets them see our restaurant so they might come back next time they're in town," said Ricky Johnson, Forno, general manager.

That's the hope, as downtown Baltimore booms with music.

City leaders say when you factor in parking, dining and potential hotel stays, Baltimore will see a lot of money.

Royal Farms Arena is one of the top 20 grossing arenas in the world for a venue of its size.
