Risks Outweigh The Reward For Dennis Pitta's Season Hopes

By Samuel Njoku

Dennis Pitta Done For The Season

Dennis Pitta gave it the old college try, but his doctors weren't having it. They informed the tight end that they would unable to clear him for football activities and the Ravens reciprocated that sentiment by placing him on IR for the remainder of the season. Coach Harbaugh stated earlier that Pitta has looked well in practice against his teammates. But that doesn't take into account that he hasn't had any physical contact on the football field since 2014.

Given the risks involved in returning from 2 hip dislocations, it would surprise no one if Pitta decided to call it quits on what has been a pretty impressive career. But he's let everyone know that he isn't given up and will now push for a 2016 return.

"I love competing and I love playing at the highest level," stated Dennis Pitta. "That's something I don't think I'm ready to give up."

Terrance West Added To Ravens Practice Squad

Terrance West, the former Towson Tiger, is returning home to Baltimore. After being cut by the Titans last week, West was picked up by Baltimore after receiving offers from multiple teams. Fans are excited for the chance to see a hometown player dawn the purple and black. But if it were up to Terrance West, he would have been here his rookie season.

"Getting into the NFL with any team is a blessing, but I had my mind set to becoming a Raven coming out," stated West. "But hey, everything happens for a reason."

West won't be in the active roster, at least for the time being. With the number of injuries that have plagued the Ravens, he'll need to be ready to step up when his number is called. This is the third team he's been on this season, he may not have many opportunities left if things don't work out here in Baltimore, but West is definitely hoping that the third time's the charm.

Clock Is Ticking On Breshad Perriman

There are only so many games in an NFL season, 16 to be exact. Breshad Perriman has missed half of them with a knee injury that has been slow to recover. The Ravens are clinging onto the hopes that they'll make the playoffs this year. But if they are unable to accomplish this feat, they'll at least need to evaluate the roster in order to prepare for 2016. That means finding out what they have with players like Breshad Perriman.

"To me, the clock is ticking." stated Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh. "I'd love to get four games out of him, just so you can see him and he can develop for four games. But that means now we need four weeks of getting him ready to play four games."

Perriman didn't practice on Wednesday which would leave one to believe he won't be practicing very much this week. With time running out, Baltimore may decide to place the rookie on IR and bring in another body to evaluate. That's something neither Perriman or the Ravens want to see.
