Baltimore, Cities Across The World On High Alert After Paris Attacks

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Scores of people are dead after multiple coordinated attacks across Paris. Over 120 people have been killed, but that number is only expected to grow.

As eyewitness accounts come in, cities across the world are on high alert.

Police here in Baltimore City have moved additional resources to high profile areas, as French investigators try to determine who is responsible for the attacks.

Victims were targeted in six Paris locations in what experts say was a well-planned attack.

"There's a lot of planning. You have people that are explosive experts. You have to make sure you know when, where, the timing," said Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, (D) Maryland.

Congressman Ruppersberger, former ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, believes the terrorists have been plotting for at least a year.

"Right now, there are probably still terrorists that are out there. Right now, France is attempting to stabilize. And we're going to do whatever we can and use our resources in the United States to help them find these murderous, callous people," he said.

Investigators will use forensic evidence to track them down.

"We're talking about multiple simultaneous attacks, and they kept it secret. That is a very difficult thing to do. Requires operational sophistication. We haven't seen that kind of sophistication since the London bombings," said Mike Morrell, former CIA deputy director.

Officials warn: other countries must be on alert.

"An attack like this, under the radar, it could happen. And using social media, giving orders through social media, that could happen now," said Rep. Ruppersberger.

D.C. police have also increased patrols outside the French embassy as a precaution.
