Baltimore Teacher Charged With Having Sex With 15-Year-Old

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—A Baltimore City teacher has been charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl inside his Parkville home.

The investigation began on November 10, when authorities say they responded to an area hospital for a sexual offense report.

According to police, on November 9, 2015 the victim reportedly went to the suspect's home to get help with a school assignment.

Police say while she was at the home she allegedly drank alcohol with the suspect, which he supplied, and later had sex in the living room. Police say the victim had sex with the suspect multiple times.

A further investigation revealed that the victim was not in a condition where she could resist action by the suspect, police said.

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Taki Kentae Lewis, who's a teacher at National Academy Foundation. He is charged with second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, and related charges.

The investigation revealed that Lewis was also a friend of the victim's family.

Lewis did not teach at the victims school. At the time, there is not indication that any additional victims were involved.

In a statement by the Baltimore City Public Schools, they say Lewis was immediately place on administrative leave when notified on November 10.

"City schools will closely monitor this matter and will take further prompt action as appropriate," officials said.

Lewis remains behind bars on $400,000 bail.
