Inner Harbor Ice Rink Back Open For The Season

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After weeks of anticipation, the Inner Harbor ice rink is back open for the season. Now skaters of all skill levels can hit the ice.

Amy Yensi has more on all the excitement.

Lace up those skates! The PANDORA Ice Rink is open at the Inner Harbor.

Now that the professional figure skaters have left their swirl marks, the amateurs are ready to take the ice for a spin.

With a new location at the top of the Inner Harbor Amphitheater and an expanded 6,000 square feet, this year, there's even more space to glide on the ice.

Sarah St. Clair with the Waterfront Partnership says there are holiday-themed special events planned for the entire season.

"This is the second year in a row that we have brought this wonderful, portable, family-friendly amenity back to Baltimore's waterfront," she said. "This is a great attraction that's accessible to most. It's right here, easy to get to and fun for the whole family."

The experience doesn't stop on the ice. Rink visitors get discounts to waterfront restaurants and shops. With tens of thousands of visitors expected, it can mean a boost for local businesses.

"I know all the businesses love it. The more people, the more buyers," said Kevin Conklin, vice president of operations for PANDORA Americas.

Others see it as a sign of hope for the city.

"It's a lot going on, so it makes you want to come out here and enjoy yourself more," one woman said.

A holiday tradition that's back in Charm City for yet another year.

The rink is open daily:

  • Monday – Thursday: 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Friday: 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Saturday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

The Santa House will be inside the Light Street Pavilion this year.
