Police ID Knife-Wielding Suspect Shot By Off-Duty Baltimore Co. Officer
WASHINGTON (WJZ)—A knife-wielding suspect is shot by an off-duty officer after police say he refused to drop his weapon on Saturday night.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, a man allegedly slashed a woman with a knife just outside Union Station. Moments later, both individuals proceeded to move inside the station where an off-duty Baltimore County officer observed the situation unfold.
According to authorities, as the suspect approached the officer--still brandishing a knife--he was instructed to drop his weapon, but the suspect didn't comply. As a result, the suspect was shot by the officer and apprehended.
The woman stabbed was transported for her injuries, her condition is unknown at this time.
Police say a second woman also sustained a non-life threatening gunshot injury during the incident.
The suspect is identified as 25-year-old Rashad Bugg-Bey, of D.C. He is being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
Authorities are continuing their investigation.
