Man Charged With Moving Ambulance While Crew Treated Patient

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Salisbury Police have arrested a man they say got into an ambulance while the crew was treating a patient, released the parking brake and let the vehicle drift about 50 feet before running away.

It happened on Oct. 29 on Heron Court. The department said in a news release Monday that the crew of the Salisbury Fire Department ambulance was treating a patient in the rear of the vehicle when paramedics heard the driver's side door open and the parking brake being released.

Officers say the ambulance traveled about 50 feet before stopping. No one was hurt.

After detectives identified a suspect, officers last week arrested 38-year-old Russell Allen Holland Jr. He is charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, unlawful removal of property and false imprisonment.
