Vigil Held After Fire Claims Life Of Woman & Her Daughter

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Tragedy in a northeast Baltimore community. A fire claims the lives of a woman and her young daughter. One man survived, who happens to be a security officer for the Ravens.

Tracey Leong attended a vigil at the young girl's school.

The vigil is slowly growing. A basketball court is almost filled with friends, family and teachers who all knew Sage. A crisis team was called to the school to comfort everybody.

"That's crazy. She was a part of a lot of different things. She had a tremendous following of friends everywhere. Teachers loved her. Everyone loved her," said teacher Matthew Day.

An overnight fire Sunday claimed the lives of Charlene James and her nine-year-old daughter, Sage, the family of Ellison James, a Baltimore Ravens staffer. The Ravens are mourning the tragic loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Day remembers her and her family.

"The whole school is just broken right now. They put together this lovely vigil for the family just to bring together support," Day said. "There's a lot of support for the family."

Sage's brother graduated from the school last year. A GoFundMe page has been set up. Click here to donate.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
