Towson Dive Coach Placed On Administrative Leave Amid Peeping Tom Investigation

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) -- The investigation into a Towson University coach continues.

Amy Yensi reports for WJZ.

Dive coach Maureen Mead has been charged, but investigators are not eliminating the possibility that others could also be in trouble with the law.

Team members found a smartphone inside their locker room allegedly recording them during one of their most vulnerable moments -- while they were changing.

"Just to know that it can happen, it's very disturbing," one swimmer said.

Monday's indictment says the championship-winning dive coach is accused of interception of communication, peeping tom and altering physical evidence in a criminal proceeding.

The cell phone was discovered in October in Burdick Hall and turned in to University Police.

Mead and her husband Patrick have both been replaced during the investigation.

"I'm glad the girls can feel more comfortable with the new coaches," one student said.

Towson officials said the investigation is continuing and it will provide more information as more details emerge.

"The university's hands are tied in this decision," said one student. "They can't just let her slide."

On October 16, Maureen Mead was placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
