Carson Visiting Syrian Refugees In Jordan

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is visiting Syrian refugees in Jordan this weekend.

Campaign manager Barry Bennett says the retired neurosurgeon will tour a major refugee camp on Friday and Saturday. He declined to release more details about the Middle East mission because of security concerns.

Carson is struggling to command foreign policy as it becomes a greater focus in the 2016 contest. Those close to him concede his fluency on foreign policy isn't yet where it should be.

Carson and his GOP rivals have condemned President Barack Obama's plan to welcome 10,000 Syrian refugees to the U.S. Republicans are concerned terrorists may sneak in alongside those fleeing war-torn Syria.

Carson recently likened such refugees to rabid dogs.
