2-Week Firearm Deer Season Begins In Maryland

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's two-week firearm deer season has begun.

Maryland's most popular deer season began Saturday and continues through Dec. 12. During the season, hunters with a valid license can use firearms to shoot sika deer and white-tailed deer.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports more than 50,000 hunters are expected to participate in the season. Brian Eyler, deer project leader for the Wildlife and Heritage Service of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, says he anticipates 30,000 to 40,000 deer will be harvested this season.
