WEATHER BLOG: Sunday

Soggy travel day for those returning home for the Thanksgiving weekend. Highs have already peaked for today, but remain seasonably cool. Temps are not expected to get back into the normal/average range until Tuesday. Overall, we can't can't complain about the most recent stretch of holiday weather. From Wednesday's travel to Thanksgiving Thursday... then from Black Friday to Small Business Saturday, forecasts have cooperated. Today's damp roads may slow the pace, but we're not getting the wintry blast and flooding rains our neighbors in the Midwest & Southwest have experienced.

The current front is taking it's good ole time pushing through the region. We've had steady showers through much of the overnight, but we're finally seeing a break in the showers. Clouds will persist into the evening with any clearing coming from North of the state line and gradually progressing South. Rain is still more likely before noon. Afterwards, look for cloudy skies with highs leveling out in the mid 40°s. The North winds remain persistent behind the front. Chance of precipitation is 70%....with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Under partly cloudy skies tonight, temps dip to a low around 37...and while it sounds quite chilly, the average overnight low for this date is 33°.

We can expect a break from the rain (but not the clouds) on Monday before our next series of fronts move in. There will be chance of rain, mainly after 3pm. Until then skies stay mostly cloudy with a high near 47. Northeast winds will contribute to the cloud cover and cooler temps. Chance of precipitation is 40% during the day but increases closer to nightfall. Rainfall Monday night could bring new precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Lows stay on the mild side not dropping below the low 40°s. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Same pattern into Tuesday has highs again reach the 50° mark. Look for an East wind to become light and variable through the afternoon. Tuesday highs & lows near 51°& 48°. Shower chances linger into Wednesday before we get another decent break of sun. If there's any silver lining is that temps never get too cold or raw. Milder conditions return by midweek and the drying out will commence by Thursday.
