BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A community comes together to remember a Towson University student killed in a crash on I-95.

State police say 21-year-old Bryanna Ey tried switching lanes when a tractor trailer sent her car spinning.

WJZ's Rick Ritter has new details in the crash.

From high above, Sky Eye Chopper 13 hovers over the scene that left I-95 backed up for hours.

On the ground, a tragic collision that's hard to take in.

"It is surreal, it doesn't feel like it's really happening," said Kristy Dougherty, Lunar Allstars Cheerleading.

Wednesday night, state police say 21-year-old Bryanna Ey was traveling northbound near mile marker 75 when she made an "erratic" lane change. Her Honda was then rear-ended by a tractor trailer.

"She hit the wall and then believe she hit the pickup truck who was also traveling northbound on 95," said Elena Russo, Maryland State Police.

Ey, a cheerleading coach who was a nursing student at Towson University, was flown to Shock Trauma where she was pronounced dead.

Within hours social media became flooded with posts remembering the 21-year-old.

"Stuff like this doesn't happen to people like her, she's such a good kid," said Misti Pruski.

Friends of Bryanna and kids she coached held a candlelight vigil Thursday night, saying the 21-year-old was adored by everyone.

In Forest Hill, sobbing was heard throughout the night. Kids who cheer for Lunar Allstars trying to come to grips with the heart-wrenching news.

Coaches remember Ey as a bright, beautiful soul.

"She was always just motivating and the kids wanted to work for her," said Tracy Unkart, Lunar Allstars.

State police say no one else was injured in the accident.

The cheerleading squad was considering dropping out of a scheduled competition this weekend, but say they plan to compete in honor of Bryanna.

Family and friends of the Towson student are working on a GoFundMe page to help her family pay for funeral costs.
