4 Marylanders Nominated For Grammys

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The list of Grammy nominees is out and several Marylanders have made the list.

WJZ's Jessica Kartalija has the latest.

Fifteen-time Grammy winner and R&B superstar Alicia Keys announced the 2016 Grammy nominations on CBS This Morning this week.

This year, Baltimore-born composer Christopher Rouse was nominated for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album "Kabir Padavali."

"There are an awful lot of recordings in a given year and when they narrow it down to just five in each category, it's really very special," Rouse said.

Tamar Braxton, the Severn native and sister of Toni Braxton, was nominated for Best R&B Performance for the song "If I Don't Have You" from her album "Calling All Lovers."

Brothers Osbourne, TJ and John Osbourne, grew up in Anne Arundel County. They're nominated for Best Country Group/Duo Performance for their single "Stay a Little Longer."

Rouse, a Gilman grad, is a Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer, teaching at Juliard, but still living in Baltimore.

"I am glad people are recognizing there are a lot of good composers here, we have a great orchestra here with a wonderful conductor," he said.

Last year, Braxton was up for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance bu did not win.

This is Brothers Osbourne's first nomination.
