Recording Breaking Warmth Leaves Some In Shorts & Flip Flops On Christmas

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but it sure doesn't feel that way.

Meghan McCorkell has more on this recording breaking Christmas Eve weather.

Sorry frosty, maybe next year. This Christmas Eve we're taking in our lights with flip flops and shorts.

It's a big change from the polar vortex we saw just one winter ago.

"Last year when we were here I took a picture with my wife and it was like snowy white," said Ashish Dahal.

This Christmas Eve we hit a record breaking 71 degrees compare that with the average  43 degrees!

"I don't have to go to California or Arizona for a warm Christmas, I can stay right here," said Michelle
Hall.

And while the warm weather is good in some places others, not so much.

Steam is rising off The Inner Harbor ice rink, shutting it down until we see a cool down.

For right now, the weather has not been kind to us. At Roundtop Mountain Resort, it looks more like a muddy green mess. They did have snow makers going last week, but Mother Nature isn't cooperating.

"We were probably one night away from being able to open. We needed one more night of snow making and we just quite didn't get it," said Chris Dudding, Roundtop Mountain Resort.

The big question with no snow this Christmas Eve: will Santa still be able to make it?

We went to the big guy himself for some answers.

McCorkell: "You'll still make it to everyone's house tonight, right?"

"Oh absolutely! I may have to replace the runners with wheels but we'll do it," said Santa.

To put it into perspective today hit 71 degrees.

The temperature here in Baltimore this July 4th was 76 degrees.
