Catcher Caleb Joseph Joins Orioles Hot Stove

Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph joined Jim and Roch on Orioles Hot Stove to discuss the pitching staff struggles in 2015 and how he's preparing for the upcoming season.

Caleb Joseph was thrusted into the starting catcher role during the early part of the 2015 season due to a injury to All-Star catcher Matt Wieters. While Joseph will probably be never known for his bat, he is known as a solid defensive catcher. That reputation was backed up as Joseph recorded a .996 fielding percentage and he threw out percent of base runners. The 29 year old catcher put up modest numbers at the plate with a .234 average with 11 homers and 49 RBI.

As the 2016 season approaches with Matt Wieters back for a full season, Joseph was asked if his preparation is different knowing that he'll be going into spring training as the back up catcher. "You want to compete and prepare for whatever role you're put into" said Joseph. "You train as if you're going to play every day."
