Woman Pleads Guilty In Slaying Of 65-Year-Old Roommate

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A woman has pleaded guilty in Hagerstown to second-degree murder and theft-scheme charges in the slaying of her 65-year-old roommate.

The Herald-Mail (bit.ly/1IUzYrK) reports that 40-year-old Leandra Blunt struck the plea deal Friday in Washington County Circuit Court.  Prosecutors dropped charges of first-degree murder and other offenses.

Blunt faces up to 25 years in prison at her sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

Blunt acknowledges she killed William Carter, whose asphyxiated, decomposing body was found in his downtown-area apartment Feb. 10, bound hand and foot, and wrapped in blankets, a curtain and plastic bags. Investigators believe he was killed at least 10 days earlier

Prosecutors say Blunt used Carter's stolen bank card to withdraw about $1,500 from his account. She was arrested in Washington, D.C.
