University Library In Baltimore To Get Annual Cleaning

BALTIMORE (AP) — A library at the Johns Hopkins University is getting is annual cleaning.

On Friday, staff and volunteers will clean the books, shelves, windows and floors of the stack room at the George Peabody Library.

Volunteers will use cloths, feather dusters and vacuums to get rid of a year's worth of dust.

The library opened in 1878 and has five tiers of ornamental cast iron balconies. It holds more than 300,000 volumes of books, largely from the 18th and 19th centuries. The library is open to the general public but books can't be checked out.
