Bethune-Cookman Beats Morgan State 62-50

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Ricky Johnson scored 19 points and Bethune-Cookman beat Morgan State 62-50 Monday night.

Johnson was 6 of 10 from the field with four 3-pointers for the Wildcats (6-13, 3-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic).

Johnson became Bethune-Cookman's 29th career 1,000-point scorer on a 4-point play in the first half. Jordan

Potts added 14 points, while Quinton Forrest grabbed 13 rebounds, the freshman's career high.  The team had program-record 12 blocked shots -- seven from Mario Moody, his career high, and five more from LaRon Smith.

Morgan State (3-15, 1-4) was led by Rasean Simpson with 17 points and nine rebounds. Phillip Carr had 14 points with nine boards and Cedric Blossom added 11. The Bears shot under 19 percent (12 of 64) and made just 2 of 19 3-point attempts.

Bethune-Cookman closed the first half on a 19-3 run to turn a three-point lead into a 38-19 advantage at the break. Morgan State trimmed the deficit to nine with 5:53 left, but scored just once after that.
