The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of February 6th

This week's edition of the Norris & Davis Show best of includes an interview with Charles Davis about Super Bowl 50, and an interview with new Maryland Terrapins Head Coach DJ Durkin on his first recruiting class.

CHARLES DAVIS

Charles joined Ken and Steve to talk about the Pro Bowl, Super Bowl 50, and players the Ravens should target in the NFL Draft.

Charles started off by talking about the Pro Bowl and how to possibly fix the game and make it more interesting for the fans. Charles reminisced on days when players had to get jobs in the off-season and how back in those days the money was a true motivator and said "I just don't see anything there where players will be truly motivated to be in the game." Charles said he doesn't think a skills challenge would be a big ratings grab for the NFL either.

As for the Super Bowl Charles talked about the match-up looking bad for Denver saying "it's going to be a struggle for them, you start with the QBs and work from there...if the Panthers are able to move people and run the ball the way they want to it's going to be real difficult for Denver." As for what he would do if he was the Panthers defensive coordinator Charles said "if I'm Carolina on defense my corners are sitting at break points for routes...and I know this is blasphemy but I'm telling Peyton Manning you beat me over the top."

Charles also talked about some of the prospects he is impressed with in the upcoming NFL Draft. As for what the Ravens should do with the 6th overall pick Charles said "if it's cornerback it's going to be a Junior is Jalen Ramsey still sitting there or Vernon Hargreaves...pass rusher the best one I saw this week was Noah Spence from Eastern Kentucky...as for tackle Spencer Drango from Baylor but he's not a left tackle."

DJ DURKIN

Coach Durkin joined Ken and Steve to talk about his first recruiting class as the coach of Terps football.

Coach Durkin started off by talking about his first recruiting class and if he is pleased with their commitments saying "I think from top to bottom we are really pleased, we have guys representing every spot on the roster." As for the areas he and his staff focused on most Coach Durkin said "we have ten guys from the DMV, and we grabbed 7 guys from the state of Florida."

As for being behind by a couple years on the recruiting trail do to only being on the job for a couple months Coach Durkin said "recruiting really comes down to relationships and building relationships and you need time to do that...our coaching staff did a phenomenal job and leaned on people we know and trust in the areas."

As for whether Maryland wants to spend a lot of time down in FLorida recruiting in the future Coach Durkin said "I think most schools go down south at some point...I know we're going to spend most of our time right here in our own backyard, if we do a good job right here we can not only be competitive but we can win championships with the guys right here."
