WEATHER BLOG: Seasonably Mild

Today should be a much calmer day than yesterday, with winds dying quickly and remaining seasonably mild. Given the amount of sunshine it should be quite a nice day. Any remaining snow will melt during the day today before refreezing when temperatures drop below freezing tonight. The calm will continue tomorrow and temperatures will get milder as a clipper system in the northern plains pulls warm air over the region. At the same time a coastal storm will be developing, as advertised, for the past couple of days. The model trends continue to be toward an offshore solution. As of right now most of the I-95 corridor looks to dodge a significant winter storm, with the western edge of accumulating snow somewhere over Long Island and eastern New England.

While we will dodge the big coastal storm there will still be some precipitation upon the arrival of the upper trough. Rain and snow showers will work into the region either late on Wednesday or on Wednesday night. While the placement of an area of heavier snow is in question at this time, we are concerned that somewhere between Virginia and New England a second area of steadier snow should develop. As we get closer to the event we will likely be able to pinpoint a more likely area or at least narrow down the options. For now, I would just mention the chance for snow and flurries Monday night into Tuesday night, with a light accumulation possible.

Despite the talk of storms and snow, temperatures will continue to to remain above to near normal over the next couple of days. Considering how warm the month started, it will feel a bit chillier, especially late this coming week. Have a Great Day!
