Gospel Singer From Baltimore Garners A Grammy Nomination

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A stirring, show-stopping gospel song from a Baltimore singer-songwriter garners a Grammy nomination.

Anthony Brown talks to Mary Bubala about his excitement for Monday's big awards show.

The song is called "Worth." It's powerful, moving, and now, Grammy-nominated for best gospel performance and song.

"Every time you say the word,  the 'G' word, my heart starts beating really fast. It just makes me nervous," said Brown. "I can't do it, I just can't do it. It's a dream come true."

Baltimore's Anthony Brown and Group Therapy are reveling in this Grammy nomination.

The song from the album "Everyday Jesus" is No. 1 on the gospel radio charts.

Brown, a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts and Morgan State, got his big break when he penned "It Ain't Over" for Maurette Brown Clark.

It looks like it's just getting started for the talented Anthony Brown.

"The whole world is singing about their worth, and that makes me feel amazing," said Brown.

Brown is currently a worship leader at the First Baptist Church in Glenarden, Prince George's County.

You can watch the 58th annual Grammy Awards Monday at 8 p.m., live on WJZ.
