Harford County Mourns The Loss Of 2 Fallen Heroes

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- An outpouring of support for two Harford County sheriff's deputies killed while trying to protect others.

Many continue to drop off flowers at a memorial outside the sheriff's office in Edgewood.

Not only were candles lit there, but nationwide to remember two fallen heroes who left a remarkable impact on the community.

Outside Harford County Southern Precinct, a memorial continues to grow for both fallen deputies.

An emotional procession brought many to a standstill.

"It's amazing, the outpouring of love that is here," said Eryn Campbell, who worked with Pat Dailey at Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

A candlelight vigil left others in tears.

"These guys don't get to go home and see their kids," said Bridget Highkin, who also knew Dailey.

On Wednesday, it was Deputy Pat Dailey was shot and killed at Panera Bread while responding to a call.

Just around the corner, Deputy Mark Logsdon located that same suspect, but was shot and killed himself.

"Nationwide, it's just such a problem, and it's got to stop," said Highkin.

Dozens withstood the bitter cold Thursday night to remember both.

"Nobody had anything bad to say about either one of these men," Highkin said.

Complete strangers pulled over to drop off flowers.

"I couldn't even imagine being in this situation, and I just wanted to pay my respects," said Melissa Alley.

The two deputies were hailed as heroes.

An unimaginable turn of events that's brought an entire county together--closer than ever.

"It's just a hard situation, and I just can't imagine what the family is going through right now," said Alley.

Several GoFundMe pages have been set up to honor the fallen deputies.

Funeral arrangements for Deputy Dailey have been set.

Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday at the Mountain Christian Church from 2 to 9 p.m. His service will be there Wednesday at 10 a.m.
