A Final Farewell: Deputy Mark Logsdon To Be Laid To Rest Saturday

JOPPA, Md. (WJZ ) -- Harford County is pouring it's heart out once again with visitation underway for Deputy Mark Logsdon.

His funeral is scheduled for Saturday.

Logsdon and Deputy Pat Dailey were killed responding to a call in Abingdon last week.

WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren has the just-announced road closures for Lodgson's funeral Saturday -- all between 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The funeral is taking place at the arena on the Harford Community College campus near Bel Air.

There will be heavy traffic in that area and along I-95, the beltway and 83 North as the procession winds its way to the burial at Dulaney Valley Memorial Garden.

The murders of two deputies Feb. 10 shattered the peace in Harford County.

The sheriff calls the community's response humbling -  as thousands have poured out their hearts and paid their respects to those brave members of law enforcement killed in the line of duty.

A memorial that's continuing, as mourners attended an extended visitation in Joppa for Logsdon.

His wife called it overwhelming, she said. "Mark was not only husband, he was my best friend. We dreamed of the days of retirement, warm weather and endless golf courses. Now I would give everything and live in a cardboard box, if I could just be with Mark again."

Her husband will be buried Saturday with a funeral that's expected to draw law enforcement from around the state and beyond.

The scenes from the funeral of Deputy Pat Dailey Wednesday -- a massive tribute -- and Logsdon's are expected to be no different.

There will be road closures around Harford Community College and then en route to the burial in Timonium.

A final farewell as the community heals.

The funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Logsdon has a son, two daughters and a grandchild due in April. He served 12 years in the Army and 16 years with the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

A viewing for Logsdon continues through 9 p.m. Friday at the Mountain Christian Church in Joppa.
