Maryland Man Wanted In Attempted Murder Tracked To Texas

ARLINGTON, Tx. (WJZ) -- Howard County detectives tracked a Columbia man wanted in an attempted murder to Texas.

Twenty eight-year-old Hollis Ray Walton, III was charged with attempted murder, assault and firearm violations in the Dec. 5 shooting and stabbing of 28-year-old Earl Brinkley Williams of Baltimore.

Williams was taken to Shock Trauma where he was in critical condition before he was treated and released.

Police were called to the 6300 block of Windharp Way in Columbia around 6:05 p.m. for a report of a man being shot.

Detectives found blood and shell casings in the driveway and a gun in the bushes near the home.

A cell phone was also located on scene.

The cell phone was linked back to Walton and saw text messages about illegal drugs between the suspect and victim.

A warrant was issued for Walton's arrest, but police determined he had fled to Arlington, Texas. He was staying with a relative.

He was arrested by local police and extradited back to Maryland.

Walton is currently being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
