Third Suspect Wanted In Beating Of Veteran Marine

WASHINGTON (WJZ)--A marine attacked in Washington, D.C.

Two teens have been arrested, but tonight police are still searching for a third suspect.

Linh Bui has reaction from the victim, who's still recovering from his injuries.

Surveillance video from February 12th shows the brutal beating of veteran Marine Chris Marques.

It happened outside a D.C. McDonald's.

Metropolitan police just arrested two teens for the assault and robbery.

"It really reinforced my views we are the greatest county in the world. I think Americans are awesome, despite there are small crowds of people who are bad you have your bad apples but yeah this is amazing," he said.

The Marine believes the attack on him was racially motivated.

Police still looking for a third suspect, while Marques continues recovering.

"I'm having problems with my memory and there are other issues I had my speech slurring I was drooling that got a lot better," Marques said.

But he still has a long way to go.

"I'm going to go on the regiment how they test people with TBI from Iraq and Afghanistan and that can last anywhere to a year especially cause how bad concussion was," Marques said.

What he learned during his service is helping him get through this difficult time.

"It keeps me from feeling sorry for myself just because going through the wars in Afghanistan I saw my friends die lose limbs and I can't see myself as a victim it's really hard," he said.

Doctors encouraged him to drop a class at American University.

"They want me to have more time to recover and they figure too much classes might ugh make that more hard," he says.

Despite that, he's still on track to graduate in December

"Someone once told me the best type of revenge is to be successful cause it proves everyone wrong," said Marques.

Marques is a student at American University, and is still on track to graduate in December.

D.C. police ask anyone with information about the attack to call them.
