Steve Davis: Should Ravens Sign Mike Wallace?

According to reports, the Ravens will have Mike Wallace at the Castle on Monday for a visit. He was just cut by the Vikings after an unimpressive year in which he had a career low  in every category--39 receptions, 473 yards and 2 touchdowns.  In Miami the prior 2 years, his numbers were much better, averaging about 70 catches for 900 yards and 8 TD's.

He didn't justify the $60 million dollar contract he got from the Dolphins, but he still has game. I would love it if the Ravens can sign him.  He is just 29, and if he is still fast, he can help the Ravens.  Flacco can take advantage of his downfield game more than Teddy Bridgewater or Ryan Tannehill.

As of Monday, the Ravens have about $10 million in cap space, still 7th worst in the league, so they are hardly flush with cash.  That said, I would take a bunch of that money and throw it at Mike Wallace.  The Ravens don't have any playmakers on offense that scare defenses; Mike Wallace can scare defense.
