FBI, Baltimore Co. Police Search Quarry Lake

PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ)-- Visitors hoping to enjoy the view of the water saw something else at one Baltimore lake. Dive teams have been searching Quarry Lake since Monday.

Amy Yensi has more on that investigation.

The FBI and police have made several dives over the past two days---though they can't say why, that's not stopping people in the area from wondering.

The quiet waters of Quarry Lake are at the center of a joint investigation between the FBI and Baltimore County police. Sky Eye Chopper 13 gave a view of the pair of boats that have been circling the lake since Monday. Dive crews have made several trips into the water since then.

"It really didn't look like there was any great urgency so it doesn't look like some sort of emergency thing. That's why I was thinking a training exercise or whatever it is: it is no longer urgent," said Nathan Henkle, who works near the lake.

FBI and police officials are not sharing the reason behind the investigation but do say they are not searching for a body.

The search took place near busy shops and office buildings. People walking the path in Blue Stone Park were left questioning why the undercover recovery team and all their gear were camped out at the serene location.

"I'm hoping if it's something that we do need to know that they'll let us know, but I respect that they may have reasons," Henkle said.

I spoke to an FBI spokesperson at the scene; she says Tuesday is the last day that dive teams will be in the water.

Blue Stone Park was not closed off to visitors during the two-day investigation.
